Getting Gorgeous – Freeman Avocado and Oatmeal Clay Facial Mask

I decided to drug store it up a bit this week. I love high end beauty products, but being a student, working part time and having a crazy car payment every month sometimes doesn’t leave enough room in my budget for expensive products. Thanks to project ten pan my beauty expenses have come down a bit so I decided to treat myself to a $2 mask.

Freeman Avocado and Oatmeal Clay Facial Mask

The mask is pretty typical. Mix it up, put it on your face and wait until dry. One thing I really liked about this mask was the smell, it was very fresh and almost sweet. I found it refreshing. The mask dried really quickly, like maybe 3 minutes. The mask gets really tight, and it actually makes it hard to move your face.  It took a bit of rinsing to get it all off once it had dried.

Once off my skin looked good. It was smooth and soft, but overall not a dramatic result. For the $2 I spent though I am pretty happy with the results. It’s a quick refresh for tired skin. I used some moisturizer after and my skin felt pretty happy, well as happy as my skin can feel.

Overall I would give this Freeman mask about a 3.5/5, resonable in a pinch but not something I would use every day.

Getting Gorgeous – Bliss Steep Clean

I have a problem.

Not a real problem, but certainly a first world problem.

I am ADDICTED to Bliss. I love their products, I love the company and  I also spend way way way to much money on facial products. Welcome to my world, try not to drown in facial masks.

I stumbled upon this mask while in Sephora.  The wonderful staff pointed out that I would probably love this product, and to be fair  I do.  The Bliss Steep Clean mask is supposed to be a pore-plunging, clog-clearing, professional-strength facial mask that transforms skin into a scene of extreme purity in just 15 minutes ( right off the website), and it is.

Steep Clean smells fantastic.  It is a wonderfully clean scent, if that even makes any sense.  You pump the mask onto your hands, and it comes out as a yellow and blue combo. Directions are pretty easy, blend until green and apply to the face. The mask tingled a little bit when I first applied it to my face, but then it became refreshing. You leave  the mask on for 15 minutes and rinse off with a warm wash cloth.

Overall I would give the Bliss Steep Clean mask a 4/5. I loved the product, my skin is ultra smooth after use but I didn’t find much in the way of “pore-plunging”.  At $54 it’s a little pricey, but if your looking for something to keep your skin looking refreshed and gorgeous this is the mask for you.

I promise one day I will stop blogging about Bliss products. I think it may be time to scour the local drugstore for some bargain beauty finds.

Getting Gorgeous – Bliss Fabulous Skin-Reviving Rubberizing Mask

I love a gimmick.  Like really love a gimmick.  A promise for smaller pores, dewey skin or eternal youth makes my charge card comes out of my wallet faster than I can even comprehend.  I was window shopping on Sephora, and saw an offer for this new Bliss rubberizing mask and had to jump.  I love Bliss products, they just never seem to fail me.  One day I will make it to their actual New York City spa, but until then I will continue to love their incredible products. ( This is no way endorsed by Bliss, I just simply love the products)

The rubberizing mask comes in a pretty boring box, with 6 packets of mask, 1 water scoop, and 6 wooden spatulas.  The only thing you will need is a little bowl or container to mix the mask up with.  The process for mixing the mask is very easy.  Pour your powder into your container, add one scoop of water and mix until thickens.  The whole process takes about 45 seconds, and once you feel the mask thicken you spread it all over your face, being careful to avoid hairlines and eyebrows.

When everything is all mixed together, it really does not look like you are going to have enough product to spread over your entire face.  Don’t let this fool you though, they give you more then enough to cover your face and neck.  Once the mask is on, you wait 15-20 minutes. The mask leaves you with a cool refreshing feel and after about 10 minutes you feel the mask starting to “rubberize”.

This is not the kind of product you want your other half to see.  Once it’s on you look like some kind of freaky halloween creature, but its totally worth it.  Once dry the mask peels off pretty easily.  Make sure to throw the pieces away in the trash.  Bliss advises to not let any be washed down the drain.  Anything you can’t get off by pulling it off, washes off pretty easy.

Bliss always leaves your face feeling clean, refreshed and gorgeous.  You can buy Bliss online at Sephora or The Bliss online store. The mask costs $38 and for what you get it is a great deal!

Getting Gorgeous – Ole Henriksen Mini Peel System

Oh how every girl loves a good face mask, and this Ole Henriksen Mini Peel System does not disappoint!

I received a sample via a Sephora order I had placed and was a little bit hesitant to try a new peel on my skin. My skin tends to be a oily around my T zone, and a little bit dry on my cheeks. With skin like I have I always want to try something new, and Ole Henriksen is one of my favourite go to brands for skin care.

The peel is three parts and is a bit time consuming so allow yourself about 40 minutes from start to beautiful finish.

1 – Almond Polish – I loved this polish. On the back of the package Henriksen states “the benefits of a microdermabrasion; oat kernel flour, bamboo stem powder, honey, orange peel, and almond glide effortlessly across the face while abrading and refining skin to smooth perfection.” The almond polish smells delicious and did a fantastic job of scrubbing my face. You wet your hands, and scrub the polish around your face for 2 minutes. I found it a little bit hard to rinse off, but my skin already felt better after this scrub.

2- Lemon Strip – The lemon strip is the actual peel itself. The peel smells really fresh, but as soon as I put it on my freshly scrubbed face it stung. This is expected with most peels, and the stinging did go away after about 30 seconds, but man did I ever want to call it quits. My face tends to be acne prone and these spots stung the most. You only leave the strip on for 2 minutes by itself before moving onto the next step so it doesn’t end up being that bad.

3 – Chamomile Comfort – This was by far my favourite part of the whole mini peel system. The chamomile comfort is refreshing, creamy and smells exactly like a spa. You mix this in with the lemon peel on your face and it immediately soothes any uncomfortable sensations you have. Once both the comfort and the strip are mixed together, you wait 20-30 minutes, rinse off and admire your newly gorgeous skin.

Overall I would give Henriksen’s product a 4/5. The product is great, but at almost $95 it seems a little pricey. It is something worth buying though if you love the luxe feel of a spa mask, but can’t afford the cost of going to an actual spa.
