Long Weekend Goodness

This weekend was certainly one for the books!

It is not very often that I get to enjoy a full 3 day long weekend and this long weekend certainly looked promising… until I came down with a wicked summer cold.  I started to feel run down and tired earlier in the week and didn’t really put any thought into why.  With our new schedule at work we all work early one day  and then late the next.   Having no consistency  makes me pretty tired after a few weeks and I just figured the long weekend would give me plenty of time to relax and refresh.  Boy was I wrong.

Eric and I had plans to take in a Capitals baseball game and then watch the city fireworks.  My body had other plans.  Rather than a fun night out I just laid in bed, ate soup and whined.  Saturday wasn’t much better for me.  I felt a bit better in the morning, only to take a turn for the worse.  I cancelled movie plans with friends but decided to attempt to keep my dinner plans with them for later in the evening.  If you are ever in the Edmonton area you should check out The Melting Pot. The food is delicious and the serving staff is quick, personable and incredibly well trained.  Nothing brings you back to childhood like playing around with your food, dipping in cheese and assorted broths.  The highlight of the night was the Cookies and Cream chocolate fondue.  Dark chocolate swirled with marshmallow fluff and then sprinkled with oreo crumbs and lit on fire.  So yummy.

I went home after dinner, crawled into bed and slept for a full 12 hours.  Waking up after a sleep like that was great.  I managed to eat some breakfast and then went back to sleep. My body just did not want to stay awake for any longer. After another five hour nap I woke up feeling a bit like myself again.  I packed a lunch for tomorrow, I started some laundry.  Life seems to finally start to be going back to normal after 4 days of kleenex, colds pills and Big Bang Theory re-runs. I am more than happy to be sitting out on my deck, enjoying a hot tea and taking in the last of my weekend sunshine.  Even after a weekend of self pity and sickness I feel pretty good about the up coming week.

Dear Tuesday

Dear Tuesday;

I can not stand you.  You wake me up at 5:30 AM to go for a run, make me feel fantastic and then rip my patience out of me.  You take away my voice at 10:30 am, leaving me hoarse and cynical.  The work day drags on, gets hot, and then gets cold.  Did I mention it got hot again? Normally I try and find the best out of a day, but not you Tuesday.  I would take you off the calendar if I could.

Luckily work ends, someone puts a hot cup of tea in my hand, and I have some genuine laughs.  Hump day can not come soon enough. I would like to be able to taste my Project Tasteless entry this weekend.  A bangover is not sexy if I can’t talk (unless your into that sort of thing)

Tuesday, you can suck it.  You may want to apologize for all my grief, or maybe just let the rest of the night go smooth.  Okaythanks.

Steph.
